The school is very pleased to announce that the Headmaster’s application for membership of the International Division of the UK’s Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference (HMC) has been successful. This organisation represents the top two hundred and fifty public schools in the UK, including Eton, Harrow and Winchester, the schools Doon is modelled on, as well as Manchester Grammar School, the institution that so inspired our founder, S.R. Das. HMC has an active overseas division of schools founded on the British public school model. Headmaster Dr McLaughlin said, ‘I am truly delighted that The Doon School has been given the opportunity to join its peers in a global context. It is a great tribute to the reputation of the school and the quality of the boys that we have at Doon. I have been very fortunate to have been in membership of HMC before. I am really looking forward to being back in HMC and to representing the Doon School within this prestigious organisation.’ Membership of the organization will also extend greater opportunities for masters and boys to go on exchanges and for teachers to have access to training.
