After a week of adrenalin-rushing victories, the Athletics Competition silently slipped away from the minds of the Doscos. The time of the year had come when they turned their hunger for competition to one of the most glamorous sports in school – basketball. After weeks of being dormant in the afternoon, the basketball courts were suddenly overflowing with enthusiastic Doscos, developing skills and honing talents. But the fruit of all the sweat and skinned knees was seen as the Inter House Basketball competition went underway. The fight to raise the Junior Cup started on the 16th, with Kashmir House getting an easy victory over Jaipur and right alongside, Oberoi marginally defeating Hyderabad in the Juniors B matches. On the other side of school in the Juniors A matches, Jaipur gave a sound beating to Oberoi while Kashmir unluckily lost to Tata by two points. The next day saw Hyderabad giving an easy victory to Tata House, and Oberoi emerging as winners, defeating Jaipur by a large margin. In Juniors A, Hyderabad sealed their first victory against Tata, and Kashmir overcame Oberoi. On the 18th, Tata won a close match against Oberoi, while Hyderabad gained some ground by defeating Kashmir in the Juniors B matches. Kashmir’s Juniors A put a halt to Hyderabad’s hopes of victory while Jaipur continued its winning streak by defeating Tata. Jaipur House’s Juniors B finally won their first match against Tata and Oberoi continued its wins by defeating Kashmir. Oberoi’s Juniors A opened its account by defeating Tata House, whereas the leaders of the competition, Jaipur House, succumbed to Hyderabad. On the final day Jaipur gathered another victory by easily defeating Hyderabad. Tata House lost marginally to Kashmir House after a neck-to-neck fight. In the Juniors A matches the fight for the cup was on. Hyderabad broke down Oberoi’s defence and defeated them easily. But their loss in Juniors B destroyed their hopes of winning the cup. The excitement swelled when Kashmir and Jaipur clashed in a winner-take-all fight. After Jaipur’s consistent 6-point lead till half-time, Kashmir slowly caught up. However, a final basket |
from Samridh Aggarwal, followed by the referee’s final whistle assured Jaipur House of their victory in the Junior cup. While the juniors were fighting for their glory, the Seniors themselves had their share of excitement and stiff competition. Oberoi House with its team of school teamers easily defeated Tata House while Jaipur consolidated a victory over Hyderabad in the Seniors B matches on the first day. In the Seniors A matches Oberoi’s rapid game earned them an easy victory over Kashmir and Hemant Bishnoi’s quick three pointers gave Tata the leverage to defeat Hyderabad. The following day, Tata overcame Kashmir and Oberoi captured a close victory against Jaipur. In Seniors A, after close competition with Kashmir, Bishnoi’s last quarter entry gave Tata an easy victory. Jaipur on the other hand, defeated Hyderabad by a large margin. The next day Tata easily defeated Jaipur whereas after a three quarter lead Kashmir unluckily lost to Hyderabad. The day’s Seniors A matches saw easy victories for Hyderabad and Oberoi over Kashmir and Jaipur respectively. On the 19th there was neck-to-neck competition in the Senior B matches. Tata defeated Hyderabad and Oberoi defeated Kashmir in closely contested matches. Prior to this the Seniors A matches were totally one-sided. Jaipur defeated Tata and Oberoi defeated Hyderabad by big margins. On the final day in the Seniors B matches Oberoi easily defeated Hyderabad and Jaipur overcame Kashmir’s defence. In Seniors A Jaipur earned another victory against Kashmir House, and the long running winning spree and inevitable cup victory of Oberoi House was again sealed with a victory against Tata House.
