Holi Hungama
Uday Pratap Singh recounts the festive spirit that prevailed in Chandbagh on March 15

Holi, the festival of colours is celebrated enthusiastically all over India, and so, when the rest of the country is busy celebrating, how could us Doscos be left out?

This year too, Holi was celebrated with gusto by all here. The Headmaster and the Deputy Headmaster did not play, but most of the staff obliged and exchanged colours with the students. The Deans, MCJ, DKS and PKN were good sports and smeared those who greeted them with colour, and had sumptuous treats ready for those who visited them. Everyone also made a beeline for KLA’s house; however, his refusal to play with wet colours left us disappointed. Mr. Jacob and Mr. Bali decided to play Holi the ‘Dosco’ way, but ended up regretting it as their faces couldn’t be distinguished from mud. At one point of time, Mr. Jacob was making a run for it while a gang of Scs hunted him down. AAQ and KAR also joined in the fun and were overheard discussing the pros and cons of

holding a hartal outside PBR’s house until he agreed to be covered with colours. KAR had supposedly made a getaway to AAQ’s house, or so he thought, as the Doscos left no stone unturned and found him there - during this search, KAR’s door had ‘Slime’ written all over it. PMV and PKJ were seen hanging around with each other – grumbling about how ‘well-behaved’ the Doscos were. PKN was giving his classic one-liners to whoever came to wish him – he even went to the extent of comparing one of the Doscos to a person from Africa. RSF, the mover and shaker, was actually moving from one end of the campus to another as, wherever he went, he was seized by hordes of Doscos. SJB was at his clicking best, getting embarrassing shots of everyone, including a special one of Rohanjit Choudhry. The Main Field was turned into the Battle Field as boys from various Houses clashed and left marks of colours (besides other things) all around. The School Captain was also attacked but was spared any blushes after he got down on his knees and pleaded to everyone to let him keep his dignity. Zain was not so lucky. Gurshant got a taste of his own medicine, as his favourite past-time during class hours horribly back-fired in full force on him. The OB gang tried to get a little water into the festivities, but were overpowered by the boys from The Doon School. Kinshuk got a chance to show off his varied wardrobe as he changed thrice.

Overall, it was an eventful Holi and certainly one we will remember for weeks to come. And truly speaking, Holi is one festival that is definitely more fun in school than outside.
