Ratanjit Singh is an alumnus of The Doon School and a graduate from Aligarh University. He is an avid sportsman having excelled in Hockey and Mountaineering. After a few years in the corporate world , Ratanjit moved to his ancestral agricultural estate in U.P. and thereafter, to the family summer home in Shimla where he  established  Chapslee School, Shimla in 1973 and Chapslee Hotel, a Heritage Home-Stay, in 1976.
