Vivek Pandit is a Senior Partner and Director at McKinsey & Company and a leader of McKinsey's Principal Investing and Education Practices. Vivek advises leading organizations on strategy, operations, corporate finance, and M&A topics across North America and Asia. Vivek joined McKinsey's New York office, was elected a Partner in 2004 in New York and moved to India in 2005.
Vivek is co-author of a book and several publications, including, "Transforming Learning through mEducation" (2012), "Private Equity: Is the Boom Back?" (2012), "Private Equity in Asia-Pacific" (2011), "1 cent per minute" (Telecom, 2010), "What we mean by Private Equity in Asia" (2010), "Media in India" (2009), "Granularity of Growth: Asia" (2008), "The Rising Remote Infrastructure Management Opportunity: Establishing India's leadership" (2008), the "Nasscom-McKinsey Strategic Review" (2005), and several articles in the McKinsey Quarterly and leading press and business publications.
Prior to joining McKinsey he was a Member of Scientific Staff for Bell Northern Research (Nortel Networks) where he designed switching equipment. Vivek also worked as the Chief Commercial Officer for a mobile operator (a joint venture between Motorola and France Telecom).
Vivek received a dual Master's degree in Business Administration and Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 1996, where he graduated as a Valentine Fellow. He holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science from the University of California in 1992, where he graduated Magna cum Laude.
Independently, Vivek is a member of and advises several non-profit boards in education and healthcare - he is actively involved and a member of the leadership council of the Center for Advanced Studies of India (CASI) at the University of Pennsylvania, Teach for India and St. Jude's Cancer Care Centers in Mumbai. Vivek is an Aspen Institute Fellow and a Trustee of the Aspen Institute, India. He resides in Mumbai with his wife, Priyanka Seth Pandit, and their 3 children: Kaiya, Nirvaan and Tahira.
