Job Title: Manager, Fund Raising Communication 

Reports to: Head of Fund Raising & Alumni Relations

Location: The Doon School, Dehradun

Experience (in years): 10 years or more

Nature of work: Full – Time 

The Fund Raising Communication role will play a pivotal role in advancing the mission of The Doon School. The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic communication plans to engage donors, alumni, and other stakeholders. This position is responsible for creating compelling narratives, managing communication channels, and fostering relationships to support fundraising initiatives and donor engagement efforts.

The candidate should have a proven track record of Development Communication with a minimum of 10 years’ experience. A Master’s degree in any related field would be preferred however hands on experience will also be sufficient. The person will need to demonstrate success in delivering exceptional content and have high proficiency in number crunching and data analysis.

Personal Attributes:

  • A skilled professional who is at ease with a variety of media platforms and excels in both technical and creative aspects of creating diverse content forms such as movies, PDF, and web based digital proposals.
  • Proficiency in software applications like Adobe, MS Office etc is crucial for crafting campaigns.
  • Additionally, the ideal candidate should possess clear and concise writing abilities to effectively communicate messages to a broad audience.
  • Collaborating with the Fundraising team and other school departments is essential for maintaining consistent and impactful communication.
  • Being familiar with AI, Social media platforms, content creation and management systems and digital marketing tools can significantly boost the candidate’s capabilities in this role.
  • Familiarity and ease in operating Zoho CRM will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies to effectively engage donors, alumni, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Create compelling and impactful content, including fundraising appeals, marketing collaterals, donor newsletters, and impact reports, to inspire philanthropic support for the school.
  • Oversee various communication platforms, such as the Alumni webpage on the school’s website, email newsletters, and print publications, to maintain uniform messaging and branding.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and initiatives and work to enhance donor engagement and identify areas for improvement.
  • Draw an effective donor stewarding and update plan to ensure that accurate and timely donor reports are sent. Plan can include gift acknowledgments, pledge reminders, and donor recognition.
  • Collaborate with the Fund Raising & Alumni Relations team and all internal stakeholders, including teachers, staff, students, and alumni, to gather stories, testimonials, and impact data for use in donor communications.
  • Plan and coordinate donor engagements during alumni events, campus tours, and donor visits to cultivate and strengthen the school’s relations with our donors.
  • Provide support and work as a team which is involved in Fund Raising from donor prospecting to stewardship to creating fundraising campaigns.
