HMUN 2016, the annual conference of Harvard Model United Nations took place inJanuary from 28th-31st 2016 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. The Harvard Model United Nations is a simulation of the United Nations in which over 3000 senior school students from around the world participated this year, experiencing the challenges of international negotiation and cooperation. Students attending the conference assumed the perspective of countries from around the world and debated about international issues in a format inspired by the United Nations. The Doon School delegation comprising of 6 boys of SC form and accompanied by one faculty advisor met with over 3000 delegates from all over the world through debate and diplomacy and work to solve some of the most abstruse challenges facing the world today.

The HMUN experience went beyond the committee sessions. The trip gave the delegates and advisors a chance to experience Harvard and MIT Universities. The boys got the exposure to Harvard’s and MIT’s professors, extracurricular groups and resources. The Doon School delegation also visited the United Nations headquarters in New York. Times Square, Wall Street, Grand Central, 9/11 memorials and the Statue of liberty were also visited. Overall, the trip was a very good educational and learning experience for all.
