BSAI Student Leadership Workshop
The Doon School hosted the second edition of the BSAI Student Leadership Workshop from May 6th-7th, 2024. Twenty-two boarding schools from across the country participated in this conclave. Each school was represented by 4 students who hold leadership positions in their institutions as well as a teacher escort serving a pastoral role in addition to the academic one, in their respective schools.
The two-day event started with a Keynote Address given by Mr. Tajender Singh Luthra, Special Commissioner Police, New Delhi. After an ice breaking session led by Doon Masters, Dr. Shivangi Saxena and Mr. Dwayne DCosta, the participants got down to a busy day of lessons in leadership.
Mr Vineet Panchhi spoke to them about everyday heroism and regaled them with poetry, as well. A session with IAS officer, Dr. Sanjeev Chopra followed next, in which he responded to a variety of questions ranging from the challenges of leadership, humility in service, peer pressure and communication skills.
The Doon School Masters, Mr. Kamal Ahuja and Ms. Stuti Kuthiala conducted interactive modules on Leadership Styles and Armoured Leadership vs. Daring Leadership, respectively. The first day concluded with a campus tour for all the visiting schools, and the Headmaster’s Dinner.
Day two was as rigorous as day one, with the students engaging in sessions with Mr. Philip Burrett and Ms. Sangita Kain. Mr. Burrett provided insights on teamwork and trust building while Ms. Kain explored through case studies, set in boarding school scenarios, the qualities necessary in student leaders.
Mr. Vinay Pande conducted the final session of the workshop by summing up the learning gathered over the two days and making the student leaders reflect on their practices.
With the distribution of certificates and tokens of appreciation, and a final address by the Headmaster, Dr. Jagpreet Singh, the event came to a successful close.
