‘Food’ is a magic word in Doon or indeed at any boarding school. The idea of the cooking STA emerged out of a School Council meeting in 2008 to enable boys to learn a survival skill and independence in matters of dietary habits as well as encouraging it as a career choice. The STA involves creating awareness about the safety and hygiene involved in the preparation of a dish, as well as teaching various dishes, right from appetizers to desserts. Faculty members double as chefs in teaching different cuisines and recipes. Boys are encouraged to experiment with their own recipes as well.
