<div>Karan Sampath was<b> </b>selected to the India Development Team 2018 after participating at the national selection camp of the Indian Schools Debating Society. In 2017-18, ISDS conducted regional selection tournaments across <b>12 regions</b> of the country, in addition to an online process. The top 54 debaters<b> </b>attended the National Selection Camp in Chennai from 7-11 January, where they were exposed to practice debates, quizzes, and topical lectures from trainers in India and abroad. At the end of camp, the top 5 members were selected to form the team that will represent India at the World Schools Debating Championships. In addition, another team of 5 students were selected as the Indian development squad.</div>

<div>The students selected to the development team will go through a rigorous training process. This will include extensive coaching online, where students attend lectures and debates, and submit research tasks, as well as under go face to face training.headed by Chan Sriram, a member of the Indian WSDC 2012 team and coach of the <a href="http://www.indianschoolsdebatingsociety.com/icyd-2017/" target="_blank" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?hl=en&amp;q=http://www.indianschoolsdebatingsociety.com/icyd-2017/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1517379714074000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGjvbOKfsU6TQoqO9omkbmmg0OAqw">2017 ICYD team</a>. The team will also be exposed to coaching from other <a href="http://www.indianschoolsdebatingsociety.com/distinguished-alumni/" target="_blank" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?hl=en&amp;q=http://www.indianschoolsdebatingsociety.com/distinguished-alumni/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1517379714074000&amp;usg=AFQjCNG5nuHf9O2uRmSOame5Xv5gyNOnMw">Team India alumni</a>, as well as international coaches.  The students will then be taken by ISDS on a fully sponsored trip to an international tournament.</div>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Doon School participated in the Landmark Knowledge conclave held at the Genesis Global School, Noida. The debating team comprising Aryan Chhabra, Aryan Bhattacharjee and Yash Dewan put up a commendable performance losing by one point to the home team closing at the Runners Up position.</p>
<p>Aryan Bhattacharjee was adjudged the Best Speaker in the Extempore Category in the preliminary round; Aryan Chhabra and Yash Dewan were judged the Best Speakers in the Semi final and Final Rounds respectively.</p>
<p>Students also participated in the quiz competition and reached the semi finals.</p>

The team was adjudicated the Grand Champions of the Championship after defeating a team from Singapore in the Grand Finals. 30 teams participated in the Championship from ten nations including South Africa, Japan and China.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The school was represented by Arunav Vaish from Jaipur House, Shikhar Trivedi from Tata House and Mihir Gupta from Kashmir House at the Inter-School Hindi Debates held at the <strong>Welham Girls’ School</strong> on Saturday, 23rd April 2016. Shikhar Trivedi from Tata House  was adjudged the Best Speaker, and the school was positioned 3<sup>rd</sup>.</p>

<p><strong>Daly College Invitational Debates</strong><br />
A team comprising of six boys was accompanied by MNP to the Daly College Invitational Hindi and English Debates, and Quiz held from 14th to 16th April 2016. The Hindi debating team consisting of Shikhar Trivedi from Tata House, Mihir Gupta from Kashmir House and Anant Jain from Hyderabad House and secured 3rd position with Shikhar Trivedi from Tata House being adjudged as the 3rd best speaker and Mihir Gupta from Kashmir House as the best interjector.</p>
<p>The English debating team comprised of Rishabh Goel from Tata House and Kanishk Kanodia from Oberoi House put up a promising performance. Ayush Chowdhary (467-J) and Kanishk Kanodia (495-O) represented the school at the Quiz and secured 2nd position after being beaten only in the tie breaker for the win.</p>

<p>7 boys participated in the <strong>5th Mayo College Girls School Model United Nations</strong> held in Ajmer in Mid April. The MCGS MUN has become one of the most challenging and eagerly anticipated MUNs in the country hosting over 300 students from various schools across the country.</p>
<p>The individual awards are as follows:</p>
<p>Ishaan Kapoor, from Oberoi House and Tushaar Sharma from Jaipur House and Chaitanya Kediyal from Tata House were declared the <strong><u>Best Delegates i</u></strong>n their respective committees</p>
<p>Jayadityavir Singh from Jaipur House and Atrey Bhargava from Oberoi House were declared<strong><u>Outstanding Delegates</u></strong>.</p>
<p>Madhav Singhal from Oberoi House and Saksham Goel from Hyderabad House were awarded <strong><u>Honourable Mention.</u></strong></p>

<p><strong>Mayo College Ajmer and The Doon School reached the finals</strong> after 5 intense rounds of debating. The topic of the debate was<span style="color: #ff0000;"> ‘Bollywood has a lot to answer for’</span>. After an intense 45 minutes of debating, Mayo College Ajmer won the debates.</p>
