Activities and Outdoor Pursuits
Co-curricular activities are a critical part of the school’s educational philosophy and ethos. A Doon School education is one that goes far beyond the traditional classroom. Midterm treks and expeditions
Midterm treks are a long-standing tradition that blend adventure with experiential learning in the outdoors. These treks have an unparalleled reputation for fostering resilience, teamwork and leadership. Preparation for the treks takes place through weekend workshops on campus and off-site, focusing on essential skills such as budgeting, tent-pitching, safety, and emergency response. Over the years, these experiences have shaped generations of Doscos under the guidance of masters, many of whom have been true luminaries in the field, bridging the world of adventure with that of community engagement.
Students at The Doon School regularly embark on transformative outdoor expeditions. From trekking across the Thar Desert to reaching elevations of 17,500 feet at the Everest Base camp, and cycling the Manali to Leh route across some of the world’s highest mountain passes, these journeys challenge physical endurance and build resilience. The Doon School pioneered the first school expedition to Antarctica from India in December 2015. Shaping confident and capable students through education that is deeply holistic and rooted in lived experiences are a defining part of life at Doon.
