Our Campus
Our Campus
Over the decades, we have continued to enhance our campus, creating spaces that inspire learning, creativity, and community life. Each development at Chandbagh reflects our commitment to preserving heritage while embracing innovation, ensuring that The Doon School remains a place where tradition and progress thrive together.
Main Building
The Main Building, constructed by the Imperial Public Works Department and completed in 1911, remains a defining feature of the campus. Its Renaissance-style architecture, inspired by the Basilica Palladiana in Vicenza, Italy, reflects the School’s blend of history and aspiration. In 2016, the building received an Honourable Mention in the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation for the restoration carried out by Aishwarya Tipnis Architects.
Kilachand Library
The adjoining Kilachand Library, designed by Romi Khosla, continues this architectural legacy. A space for research and quiet reflection, it provides students with access to print and digital resources, fostering a culture of intellectual curiosity and independent learning.
BML Munjal Auditorium
The BML Munjal Auditorium, transformed from the former Multipurpose Hall, stands as a symbol of renewal and excellence. With refined acoustics, adaptable seating, and state-of-the-art lighting, it serves as a premier venue for assemblies, performances, and conferences. The design offers both comfort and elegance, creating a welcoming atmosphere for school gatherings and cultural events.
The Rose Bowl
An enduring emblem of Doon’s history, the Rose Bowl has been beautifully restored and expanded. This open-air amphitheatre now features improved acoustics, additional seating, and a striking exposed-brick arcade that enhances its spatial harmony. It remains the heart of Chandbagh’s most memorable occasions — from Founders’ Day ceremonies to plays, concerts, and debates.
Centres of Excellence
The Centres of Excellence for Drama, Creative Writing, and Critical Thinking are designed to nurture imagination, dialogue, and reflection. Equipped with advanced facilities for performance, rehearsal, and creative exploration, these centres reinforce Doon’s mission to cultivate intellectual curiosity, artistic expression, and the confidence to think independently.
Music School
The Music School is a dynamic space where students explore both Hindustani and Western music. With individual practice rooms, a recital hall, and a dedicated music library, it fosters excellence through instruction, collaboration, and performance. Concerts, inter-house and inter-school competitions, and recitals by visiting musicians make music an integral part of school life.
Art and Media Centre
Spanning 25,000 square feet, the Art and Media Centre stands as a landmark of creative exploration. Designed by alumnus Sandeep Khosla and inaugurated in 2010, it houses studios for painting, sculpture, ceramics, and textiles, along with a lecture hall, film and photography studio, publications room, and exhibition galleries. Shortlisted for the World Architecture News Education Award in 2010, the Centre continues to foster artistic expression through exhibitions, workshops, and collaborations with visiting artists.
Sports Complex
The new Sports Complex is a world-class facility that supports both excellence and participation. It features a heated swimming pool, a modern gymnasium, indoor courts for badminton and squash, and all-weather cricket nets. Outdoor spaces include a futsal ground, tennis and padel courts, and floodlit basketball arenas, all designed to promote fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Aqueduct
The Aqueduct is one of the School’s most distinctive spaces. Overlooking the lush expanse of Chandbagh, it serves as a gathering place for the community. The café hosts meals with the SC batches and provides a welcoming venue for visiting alumni and guests. A service counter and display screens for orders makes service efficient.
Labs
AI Robotics Maker Space – The Robotics and AI Labs offer students opportunities to explore emerging technologies through hands-on learning and innovation. Equipped with modern infrastructure and flexible layouts, the Maker Space encourages collaboration, experimentation, and real-world application of knowledge — preparing students to engage meaningfully with the technologies shaping the future.
