Weather Reporting
Climate change is a major issue in today’s world. Studying these trends also helps gain hands-on experience of various mathematical concepts such as correlation, mean, standard deviation and graphs. Weather reporting is an interesting activity as our weather predictions, especially of rain, are of vital importance during various inter-house sporting events. “Sir, will it rain today? This match today will decide the inter-house trophy.” These are some common queries one receives as part of this squad. We have digital thermometers that help us record temperature and humidity. These, along with the predictions for the day, are reported on a weather reporting board. The squad has built a data bank on temperature, rainfall and humidity from 1935. The data bank helps in studying some interesting trends in the climate of the Doon valley.
